Ooghoek

Poetry installation with Lies Van Gasse, 2017

In the summer and fall of 2017 poet and visual artist Lies Van Gasse and I were invited to make a poetic interference in the natural scenery of de Kooldreef, in Beernem. This resulted in the poetry installation ‘ooghoek’. Seventeen cabinets containing poems, soundscapes and drawings were planted on the monumental trees. The material of the cabinets weathered through rain and wind as the trees lost leaves. Playing with viewpoints in the landscape and the optical illusion and the end of the walk the poems reflect on shifting perspectives of looking in and out from the viewpoint of inhabitants and outsiders.

Publication made by Poëziecentrum Ghent.
